There is a volcanic stone in Persia better known as "pumice stone" or in Persian "Sange Pa". This is usually used to remove calluses. However, the pumice stone is also ideal for polishing carpets. After the carpet has been washed and dried, defective wool fibers and unsightly and not smooth wool fibers are treated with the pumice stone without damaging the carpet! The result is a beautiful and smooth surface. With us, all oriental carpets are also cared for using this method.
